Enka is currently at her maximum capacity and unable to accept New Patients as of now. She works with hormonal health & fertility clients exclusively so if you are a fertility patient, you can add yourself to the waitlist to be contacted when the books reopen again.
We have another practitioner in the clinic, Elaine, so if you are a non fertility client and would like to be seen, drop her an e-mail on elaine@essenceacupuncture.co.uk

Meet Elaine
My name is Elaine Johnston, and I grew up in the town of Forfar with my Mum, Dad, and big brother. After finishing school, I followed a curiosity of the sciences and about how the body works and went on to study Medical Biotechnology at Abertay University in Dundee. That path led me to a long and rewarding career as a Biomedical Scientist in the Pathology Department at Ninewells Hospital, where I spent 23 years, specialising in both Histology and Cytology.
Elaine shares our commitment to personalised, high-quality care.
Elaine is keen to start at Acu-Rate to help Enka in the clinic as Enka is at her full capacity at the moment and unable to accept any New Clients since 2025.
Elaine's Story
Working in modern medicine gave me a strong scientific foundation, but over time I felt increasingly drawn to something different – to the wisdom of Eastern practices and beliefs. I found myself fascinated by ancient medicine and the way it approaches health, not just as the absence of disease, but as a balance of mind, body, and spirit and treating from the core.
That fascination grew into action. I enrolled with the London College of Chinese Medicine, where I studied Traditional Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for four years. It was an intense and eye-opening journey, and one that I poured my heart into — I was proud to graduate with a Distinction. Alongside this, I also trained in Traditional Cupping Therapy, expanding the treatments I can offer and deepening my toolkit for helping others.
So the wait is over- simply send us an e-mail and we will offer you a spot! Elaine is in the clinic every Tuesday.
